On March 13, 2024, Turan University in Almaty hosted the International Scientific and Practical Forum “Prospects of Medical Tourism in the Countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States.” The event brought together representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to discuss key areas for the development of medical and wellness tourism across the Eurasian region.
The forum focused on cooperation among government institutions, healthcare organizations, universities, tourism associations, and businesses. The discussions centered on current industry trends, effective approaches to promoting medical services, the development of professional partnerships, and the creation of joint strategies to strengthen the position of CIS countries in the medical tourism market.
The forum was organized by Turan University, the Almaty Medical Tourism Association, the Saint Petersburg Medical Tourism Agency, as well as профильные туристские и отраслевые организации Казахстана. The program brought together representatives of government bodies, academia, medical institutions, travel companies, the spa and wellness sector, and the hospitality industry.
As a result of the meeting, participants exchanged practical experience, identified promising areas for cooperation, and confirmed their interest in further developing medical tourism among CIS countries. As part of the business program, forum guests also visited medical institutions in Almaty and took part in United Medical Tourism Expo events, which added a practical and industry-focused dimension to the discussions.
